Circa 1911 12" Dayton Tab Base "Toilet Bowl" Oscillator. Another wonderful fan from a lifetime fan collector's collection. Over the next few months, we will be listing fans from several private collections, with many more great examples still to come. This is a rarely seen 12" six-blade brass Dayton "Toilet Bowl" oscillator. The original finish is excellent, showing only a few signs of wear from more than 100 years of careful handling. We also noted a few small paint chips on the side of the motor that have been brush touched. This example has spent many years on display in a climate-controlled private residence. We have disassembled and serviced the fan. The blade has been spared from the buffer and still retains a nice original patina while being cleaned of old residue. We upgraded the head wire and power cord using our superior OTR+W cloth-covered wire. The fan operates on three speeds, with medium and low running very close to the same speed. Dayton seemed to use more iron in these fans than many other desk fans of the period—they are absolute monsters. This fan is ready to be used or displayed as part of a quality fan collection.
