Stunning circa 1914 Emerson type 21645 9" oscillating desk fan. The 21645 is a transitional model for Emerson, later in its production life this model saw several features become upgraded to modern materials and designs. This is an early example with all its original components. Blade features a cast iron hub that was later upgraded to stamped metal design. Oscillator wheel is the very desirable and fragile "ratchet" adjustable pot metal wheel. The gear box is also a rare and desirable early production characteristic being manufactured of pot metal.  This example consists of many collectable and early features making it highly desirable to collectors.  We just acquired this beautiful example as part of an exquisite personal collection featuring some of the best examples we have ever offered.  We were told the fan features its original finish, we noted some brush touched spots particularly around the base and some of the screws (as seen in photos).  Also believe the gearbox, oscillator wheel and adjustable collar have a newer finish than original.  An amazing condition example of this highly collectable fan. The original head wire is in incredible condition and we chose to leave it intact.
