From the Prairie House Collection, assembled by a dedicated fan enthusiast and collector, comes this, Circa 1910 Emerson Type 11646 12" Desk Fan. This all-original Emerson retains its original finish on the motor, which should display beautifully with a cleaning and waxing – the rear motor housing even retains its original gold lettering, a feature that is often worn away over time. The brass blade and cage were polished at some point during the fan's 114+ year history. The base and yoke have been painted and display a textured appearance. The head wire will need to be replaced, and the power cord has been replaced with yellow wire. Rated for 104 volts, the fan operates smoothly on two distinct speeds when proper voltage is applied (amps .98 & .82). It also features the iconic centrifugal switch, which produces the distinctive sound collectors have come to appreciate during startup and shutdown. The switch lever will need to be replaced, the cage and struts will require straightening, one double acorn nut is missing, and the fan needs a power cord grommet. The struts are Emerson production however they may not be correct for this model but fit the model well. This early Emerson will make a great addition to a collection and will need to be cleaned, serviced, and nuisances addressed.
