From the Prairie House Collection, assembled by a dedicated fan enthusiast and collector, comes this Circa 1910 9" Robbins & Myers “Open Commutator” Stationary Desk Fan.    Cast iron base, motor, and struts still retain their original finish and displays very nicely.  Rather than replacing the original speed markings, a previous owner scratched the on/off speed positions into the base, providing a unique glimpse into the fan's long history and use.   The brass plated steel cage and blades appear to have been polished several years ago, as a light patina has begun to develop.  The head wire that is exposed is tattered and the stiff power cord is short.  The motor has a short to ground.  It only operates on one of its two intended speeds.  It runs smoothly on the one speed when operated on 110V DC. The brush holders and brushes  are missing, and the cage will require straightening.  The original fiber bottom cover is present and from the factory was stamped with the fans motor tag information.
