Circa 1910 8" Emerson Type 11644 Ornate Base Desk Fan. This exceptional example comes from a collection we recently acquired from a long-time collector whose favorite fans were Emersons, and this was one of his personal favorites due to its condition and size. It was proudly displayed on an end table in his living room, and he boasted about how wonderful it was. The Emerson Type 11644 is highly sought after by collectors for its cast-iron ornate base, Parker-style blades, and embossed on/off indicators. This example remains all original and is in remarkable condition!! The original gold leaf on the base is still present after more than 115 years. The black finish remains glossy and well preserved, beautifully complemented by the naturally patinaed brass blades and cage. The wing nuts have been stripped of their original paint, adding character and contrast. The fan runs exactly as designed on its single speed, complete with the distinctive centrifugal start-switch click on startup and shutdown. It has been fully serviced, cleaned, and waxed, with the head wire and power cord replaced. This is a beautiful little early Emerson – a must have for any décor or collection!
