Circa 1918 12" Emerson Type 24646 Transitional Brass Bladed Oscillating Desk Fan All Original
Circa 1918 Emerson type 24646 12" desk fan. Produced during an era that created iconic Emerson desk fans, this model was a precursor to the 29646 which has become an notable icon in the Fan Collector community. Introduced in 1917, the 24 series of models ran into 1919 before replaced by the 27 series. Several notable variations of this model are the smaller diameter base, cast or forged handle, and ball-detent oscillator wheel. I believe this to be a slightly later 24 series example as it contains a stamped steel hub. Overall an excellent all original example of a highly desirable and seldom seen type #. Fan has been completely disassembled and serviced and runs perfectly on 3 distinct speeds. There is a factory casting flaw on the front lip of the base as shown in the photos. We have upgraded the wiring for safe operation using our OTR+W cloth covered wire. An ideal fan for daily use!!
