Very Rare All Original Circa 1917 ECK Hurricane Oscillating Desk Fan With Patented Ming Blade. This Example Was Made For The US Market And Operates On 110v AC. This Example Features Its All Original ----Ming Patented Blade, ECK Side Gear Hurricane Models Are Very Desirable Among Collectors And This Example Features The Very Elusive Ming Blade Design. This Exclusive Design Wan Only Made For 2 Years, 1917 And 1918 Series.

"The term Ming comes from no HUM, the HUM is missing from Humming, leaving just ming.  The blades were actually designed by a New Yorker in 1912 for an airplane propeller. Eck either bought or leased the rights in 1912 or 1913.  There was a modification for the new ones out in 17 I suspect."

 

Fan Features Original Brass Guard (Most Are Steel) With All Original Patina And No Breaks Or Repairs. Finish Is All Original, There Is A Decent Condition. The Small Know Used In Adjusting The Oscillator Sweep Is Missing. If Desired, The Spring Loades Shaft Can Be Held Using Pliers And Adjust The Sweep. Gearbox Has Been Disassembled And Serviced. New Headwire And Power Cord Have Been Added For Reliability In Current Transfer. Very Rare Collector Fan.
