Circa 1915 12" Diehl “Transitional” Oscillating Desk Fan Original Condition. This model was produced during the period when Diehl began integrating stamped-steel components into their designs. The motor housing features stamped-steel outer parts paired with a cast-iron interior, making this a true blend of Diehl’s “old” and “new” construction methods. The fan displays a 6 wing brass blade surrounded by a drop-ring brass with the desirable fancy Diehl logo badge and the original black finish. A three-position switch is mounted in the base; high and medium run at nearly the same speed, while low is noticeably slower and produces a gentle, pleasant breeze. The fan oscillates smoothly, though there is a small chip in the oscillator wheel that does not affect performance. It has been cleaned, fitted with a new power cord, and the head wire appears to have been previously upgraded. Great solid fan that is a must have for a collector!
