Circa 1914 12" General Electric Collar Oscillator original Desk Fan.  This oscillator design was GE's 5th generation of an oscillating desk fan and highly collectible for its unique design. Oscillation is engaged and disengaged by turning the brass collar beneath the motor, this raises and lowers the motor engaging the oscillating gears within the neck. This example features an original lustrous gloss black finish and beautifully polished brass blades, guard, and accents.  There are touch ups around the mounting holes on the base (as seen in photos).  An often missing original component, the "cord keeper" is still attached to the fans guard. The brass keeper kept the fan's head wire from entering the back of the fan's guard while oscillating. This fan runs on 3 distinct speeds as designed and oscillates very well.    This fan makes for a wonderful addition to your collection!
