From the Prairie House Collection, assembled by a dedicated fan enthusiast and collector, comes this, Circa 1911 16" GE Kidney Oscillating Desk Fan in original condition. This example retains its original finish and is in good condition even features its original speed indicators. The finish displays nicely and will respond very well from a cleaning and waxing. The brass blade and cage have a beautiful original patina and complement the fan's original finish very well. The gearbox is missing much of its original paint but is free from any visual breaks or cracks. This is particularly noteworthy, as the gearboxes are made of pot metal and in many cases have been broken or are missing over the years. The original head wire remains in place and has some fraying, while the power cord appears to be in good condition and modern replacement. The fan runs on three distinct speeds and oscillates smoothly as intended. There is some shakiness during operation, along with the gear noise (commonly found on Kidneys) and bearing wear. The switch insulator is cracked but remains intact. Overall, this is a nice original 16" GE Kidney that presents well and would make a great candidate for cleaning and servicing.
