Circa 1908 16" Emerson type 1820 ornate base desk fan. This rare big guy has all the wonderful and desirable features collectors love on early Emerson fans and it is in incredible condition.  The cast iron ornate base retains its black japanned finish with some chipping in spots, and it still houses the original porcelain switch. The large ornate motor housing with its centrifugal start switch sits inside a large cast iron yoke.  The large open ring brass guard is in excellent condition and the very rare cast hub blade is also in excellent and has no repairs or cracks. The ornate gold lettering on the front motor housing behind the blade and speed indicator is still present. The brass components have developed a striking patina which perfectly complements the cast iron components.   It has been fully serviced, cleaned and waxed and is ready for another 120 years.  Runs great on 2 speeds at the tagged voltage and produces that distinctive centrifugal switch sound so classic of Emerson’s early fans!  This fan is a beast of an air mover and early examples like this type 1820 are very difficult to find.
