Circa 1905 12" AEG Trunnion Mounted Desk Fan Professionally Restored.  Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft AG  German for 'General Electricity Company' was a German producer of electrical equipment.  It was founded in 1883 by Emil Rathenau as the Deutsche Edison-Gesellschaft für angewandte Elektricität in Berlin.  This is the second oldest documented example as presented in the AFCA Gallery.  Acquired recently as part of an amazing private collection we are pleased to offer such an exquisite example of this rare and seldom seen model.  This fan is absolutely stunning!!  Cast iron components have been finished in a rich black lacquer automotive finish with hand painted pinstripes.  All brass components have been richly polished and have started to lightly patina.  Motor is designed for use on 80 Volts DC and has a bridge rectifier installed inside (meaning correct operation will require 80 volts AC at the plug).  Choke coil appears to have been rewound (possibly at time of restoration) and operates on 3 speeds.  You will not find a nicer example of this fan anywhere!!
