Circa 1900 Westinghouse Tesla Ornate Base Fan Beautifully Restored
- Beautifully Restored Circa 1900 Westinghouse Tesla Ornate Base 100 Volts 60 Cycle Desk Fan. From the Terry Fisher Collection, we are pleased to offer such a beautiful example of this highly desirable fan. Terry was very meticulous collector and his collection was comprised of amazing "top shelf" examples. He owned this Tesla fan for quite a number of years and did not remember who executed the beautiful restoration, the quality narrows it down to a slim few restorers. All cast iron components have been finished in an automotive quality deep rich black lacquer. Brass has been professionally polished and lacquered to preserve the shine. Fan operates on 2 speeds when supplied with 100 Volts AC. During "long use testing", we discovered an issue, as the fans stator begins to warm up, the amperege jumps and the fan slows. We believe this issue is due to thin original insulation within that stator and current flow is becoming interrupted as it heats up and insulation breaks down. This is not the type of fan I would recommend for daily or log use even under normal operation. My guess is Terry never ran the fan longer than to show it off to a friend or visitor and this issue wouldn't present itself. Asking price has been established taking this slight issue into consideration.
