12" Stewarts Old Mint Direct Current DC Front Oscillator Rare

Presenting from the Prairie House Collection belonging to a dedicated fan enthusiast and collector, comes this Circa 1910s 12" Stewarts Old Mint Direct Current Front Oscillator. Commonly badged as Peerless or Colonial, these distinctive front oscillators were also sold under the "Stewarts Old Mint" label. This example is a rare 110-volt direct current (DC) version.  The fan appears to retain its original finish and is in nice condition. The brass blade and cage appear to have been polished at some point and pair nicely with the original motor and base. The head wire shows deterioration and will need to be replaced, as shown in the photos. The power cord remains in good condition. The switch insulator is missing a small piece, as shown.  The fan operates on all three speeds as designed and oscillates properly. There is occasional minor hesitation during operation, along with some brush noise.  It is possible that adding a washer to the rear shaft may help reduce the brush noise, though we have not investigated further.  Front oscillators are desirable due to their unique oscillating mechanism and distinctive appearance. Combined with the uncommon Stewarts Old Mint badge and DC motor this would be great fan for a collector.
