On consignment from a longtime fan collector, this Restored circa 1920s General Electric Coin Operated Desk Fan is in great condition and operates perfectly. These fans were placed in hotel rooms prior to air conditioning and required the guest to pay $0.05 per hour. When taken out of service, most fans had the coin equipment removed and were used as a regular fans. This fan retains the coin equipment and operates for one hour on a nickel.
The brass blades and cage have been polished and the cast iron has been restored. The fan runs smoothly on one speed. The coin door isn't original.
