Original 12" Western Electric Hawthorn Sidewinder Desk Fan
Very Rare "Hawthorn" Sidewinder or Side Gear Oscillator using GE Designed motor, base and drivetrain. This rare fan is in amazing all original condition!! We have disassembled this fan and completely serviced. Motor has received a new period correct head wire and we have replaced the power cord with period correct cloth covered wire. All components of the mechanical oscillator have been cleaned of old grease/oil and fresh clean lubrication added. As with any mechanical oscillator of this vintage, it does have some wear on the linkages and pivot points. This fan has far less wear on those components than others we have had, it runs very smooth. The oilers have been completely cleaned, new wicks added along with fresh oil. The finish has been cleaned of all dirt and oils then waxed to reveal this amazing original finish. All brass components have original patina which is the perfect compliment to the original gloss black paint. These examples are rare and don't become available very often.
