Stunning Circa 1930's Le Velle "Birdwing" Folding Electric Ceiling Fan.  C.W. Le Velle received a patent for his folding electric fan design on  May 11, 1937.  Mr. Le Velles folding fan design works on the centrifrical force of the motors rotation which opens the blades as the motor reaches the desired speed and they retract as the fans slows down when turned off.  This example has been referred to as the "Holy Grail" of Le Velle Designs and is the only known surviving example in existence.  The housing has an incredible Art Deco design that was signature for the time period in which the fan was manufactured.  This fan was restored by Paul Graves at Times Past Fans when he was located in Dallas Texas.  The restoration was commissioned by a lifelong fan collector who recently deacquistioned this amazing example from their collection.  Upon completion of the restoration, this fan hung in the collectors home where it was proudly on display until being recently removed.  This example remains completely intact with all its original components including the amazing glass shade that was specifically manufactured for this fixtures fitment.  A rare opportunity to own the "Holy Grail" Le Velle Birdwing!!
