Circa 1926 Xippas Globe "Teller or Bankers" Vertical Axis Desk Fan
Designed by Socrates A. Xippas, this very unusual vertical axis fan has been nicknamed "bankers" fan. Designed for air distribution across a horizontal plane to not disturb papers or money on a desk or table surface. This example was recently acquired as part of a large personal collection from the Midwest region. The base and globe display their original wrinkle finish. The base features a deep, almost black, dark green color, perfectly complemented by the the globe's dark army green color. The globe exhibits some oxidation in certain areas, as shown in the photos. This is a very unique and rare guard design, having had the more common design shown in the design patent, this is the first example utilizing this design we have had the pleasure of offering. Motor has been serviced with fresh lubrication for years of continued use. Power Cord has been upgraded to our OTR+W cloth covered wire. Fan operates perfectly as designed on three distinct speeds, providing a wonderfully soothing breeze. A very unique fan that presents that WOW factor!
