Circa 1920 10" Emerson Jr Desk Fan. Reliability and dependability best describe early Emerson fans and this is a perfect example of that statement. All black japanning is original to the fan and is in amazing condition especially considering it is 100 years old. We completely disassembled this fan and have fully serviced internally as well as cleaning and waxing the original finish to uncover its original luster. Still retaining a perfect original head wire, this is a testiment how the fan has been preserved since new. This model used a transition material on the blades (steel), up to this point the customer was accustomed to solid brass blades. Emerson painted the blades gold to mimic the brass the customer was used too. The brass/gold paint used on these blades from the factory did not survive as well as the Japanned used on the fans body, edges of the blades gathered dust and debris and the thin paint disolved. We refinished the steel blades as close to factory color as possible. Operating on one speed, the fan runs absolutely perfectly!! Ideal for daily use, this fan will provide another 100 years of service.
