Circa 1910 Emerson 12646 12" lever oscillator desk fan. The 12" series Emerson's are the most desirable fans among collectors. This fan features several early Emerson design characteristics. The centrifugal start switch engages and disengages the start winding based on the rpm's of the rotor. The centrifugal start switch is immediately recognizable by the "clicking" noise at startup and slow down. Beautiful "lever" oscillating gearbox, ornate base and motor castings are very visually appealing. We completely disassembled this example for cleaning and servicing. The gearbox has been completely dissembled and cleaned of old grease, and fresh new grease applied to the gears. Because this fan is such an amazing survivor and ideal for the purist collector, we chose to leave the incredible condition original headwire intact. The original finish has been cleaned and waxed. As expected with a fan that is 110 years old it shows wear to the original finish specifically around the base. Blade and guard both feature beautiful patina. Beautiful example of a rarely offered model.
