Beautifully restored Circa 1910 Western Electric "Hawthorn" Sidewinder Oscillating Desk Fan. Offering another beautiful fan from the Terry Fisher collection. Without a mechanical oscillator offering, Western Electric sourched a mechanical oscillating desk fan from GE and rebadged. This model is far more scarce than the General Electric branded model. Having undergone what appears to be an extensive restoration, this is a premier offering for such a seldom found model. All cast iron components have been restored using a rich black automotive lacquer and shine like glass!! All brass components were highly polished and (I believe) not lacquered to begin the graceful aging process overtime. When testing the fans operation, we observed some vibration to the brass guard. Blade is perfectly balanced and through troubleshooting discovered the rotor is displaying characteristicistics of imbalance. This mild issue is only seen in a slight vibration in the guard while in operation. The vibration isn't very visible in the attached video. Excellent example for your collection, not to be considered as a daily use model.
