Circa 1909 16" Westinghouse Van Oscillating Desk Fan. One Of The Most Unusual Oscillators Ever Designed. The Fan Oscillates Using Its Own Breeze! On The Front Of The Brass Guard Are Two 90 Degree Bent Brass Flaps Or Vanes. These Vanes Deflect The Breeze Pushing (Or Oscillating) The Fan Until The Vane Trigger Hits One Of The Stops Mounted On The Base. The Vanes Are Then Flipped To Send The Fan Oscillating In The Opposite Direction. The "Stops" Can Be Moved To Several Locations On The Base Or Removed Completely For 360 Degree Oscillation. This Example Has An Excellent Original Cleaned And Waxed Finish. The Brass Has Been Polished And Not Lacquered So It Has Started To Develop A Nice Light Patina. A Very Eye Catching Fan Sitting Still Or In Operation. Power Is Supplied To The Fan Using New Period Correct Cloth Covered Wire.
