Circa 1906 12" Emerson "Wesco" 5310 All Original Condition. We are pleased to offer such an amazing original condition example from Emerson's 1906 line of desk fans. This example was recently acquired as part of a collection in the St. Louis area. Emerson Electric supplied this fan to WESCO who then branded it with their logo and offered it as part of their products for the 1906 season. One thing I immediately noticed was the heavy red paper insulation on the front and rear of the stator. Don't remember seeing that paper still intact on one of these 5310 models in the past and it is clearly visible through the vent holes. The blade has a darker patina than the guard, but this is exactly as found and could be a result from less lacquer on the blade allowing for heavier oxidation. This fan operates as it did on day one in 1906 on 2 distinct speeds when supplied with the factory specified voltage of 104. Above the switch lever are the original lettering "off" and speed indicators "1" & "2". The motor utilizes early electric starting switches called "centrifugal start switches" which can be heard on start-up and shutdown. Excellent example of a rare variant.
