Circa 1902 12" GE Pancake Trunnion Desk Fan. Offering from a private collection direct from the collectors shelf. This desirable 1902 GE features an older restoration which displays some signs of the original finish beneath. All brass appears to have been polished at time of restoration and darkened nicely. General Electric brass guard is in great condition though not consistent with 1902 GE production. Brass blade runs nicely, it too is not consistent with 1902 GE production which would have been a cast brass hub. Cloth covered power cord was added at time of restoration and is in excellent condition. Motor operates smooth and true with no display of bearing wear. This fan operates on 5 distince speeds when supplied with its specified voltage of 110V AC. (108/115 AC is tagged voltage). The fan is slow to start, and speeds 3-5 run slowly. The amperage is as follows: 1: 1.06, 2: 1.03, 3: 0.93, 4: 0.82, 5: 0.79. The bearing/retainer screw is incorrect for the fan, and the blade hub is somewhat loose. The brass blade is well balanced, and the fan runs smoothly.
