Stunning Circa 1898 Emerson Tripod 5 Blade Desk Fan. Recently acquired from a private collection, we are pleased to offer such a stunning example of this highly desirable early Emerson Electric Fan. To best preserving the original finish, the collector meticulously cleaned and waxed the entire fan revealing this amazing shine. Original hand painted gold leaf detail on this example is the best I have ever seen on one of these models. Brass components have been highly polished and lacquered (I believe). Featuring Emersons early and unique starting sequence, this fan is a delight to run as well as display early electric motor technology. Correct steps of operation involve turning the T handled switch to "Start" allowing the motor to reach full speed then rotating to "On" for operation at high speed. Emerson offered a second speed on this model terming it "slow". Slow speed on this fan is very nice, slow, and smooth!! Grease cup has been filled with the appropriate grease for slowly dissolving as the bearing warms up. As absolute stunning example ideal for a serious fan collectors shelf. I would not recommend this fan as a "Daily Runner" but as an operational historical artifact.
