Patented Jan. 16 1877 W.R. Fowler Fly-Fan.  Absolutely beautiful example of an early clock work fan designed to keep the flys away from your dining area.  This is the best and most complete example of this Fowler fan I have had the opportunity to offer.  Blades/Paddles appear original (?) and their design is exactly that of the patent drawing presented.  Fan operates as intended by winding the clockwork spring using the original clock key and upon release of the break, the fan spins freely.  Displays as a piece of sculpture and an guaranteed conversation starter.  Very early pre electric fan!
