Beautiful Professionally Restored Circa 1912 12" Electric & Ordnance Accessories Co. "Stellite" Gimbled Fan
Beautiful Professionally Restored Example of the 1912 Electric & Ordnance Accessories Co. "Stellite" Gimbled Cannon Ball Motor Desk Fan. This incredible fan was manufactured by the Electric & Ordance Accessories Co. of Stellite Works, Creston Road, Ashton, Birmingham and was registered on August 29th 1901. They began selling appliances and Timken bearings. We have included an advertisement from 1902 showing a Lundell fan with the claim to being manufactured at the "Stellite Works". Soon after that publication they began manufacturing their own design with the ball motor showing a great resemblance to that of the Lundell. The Gimbled design was made popular with fan designs for mounting in ships. In their 1905 scan it mentions, "specially designed to meet admiralty requirements".
This Rare fan was part of an amazing private collection acquistion several months ago. When found this example was in rough condition and the collector sent it out to "one of the best" for a complete and major restoration. The results are truly amazing!! The unique gimble mount allows the fan to be positioned at virtually any angle. All brass components have been highly polished and lacquered to preserve the vibrant shine. Speed settings are marked in a very unique and "nautical" manner, 1/2 , 3/4, and full.
A very unique fan with a first class restoration!!! Unlikely to have the opportunity to acquire such an incredible example of this fan again.
