1937 Emerson 12" Silver Swan Pedestal Fan Type 5460 Original

From the Prairie House Collection, assembled by a dedicated fan enthusiast and collector, comes this Circa 1937 Emerson Type 5460 12" Silver Swan Pedestal Fan. When introducing the Silver Swan line, Emerson emphasized the challenge of combining practical design, operating efficiency, and striking appearance without sacrificing any of the three. The Silver Swan line was promoted as the "Most Beautiful Fans in America," and the introduction of the pedestal model completed the lineup. This example remains in largely original condition with a excellent original finish, although a portion of the steel cage appears to have been repainted at some point. The distinctive aluminum blades and rear cover were polished by Nick Loose, a long-time member of the AFCA, and they are in excellent condition.   The flat rubber power cord appears to be in good condition; however, the plug is missing a piece. The head wire will need to be replaced, as the insulation has deteriorated and the wires are touching. When tested, the fan ran for approximately five seconds before tripping the outlet. This is a beautiful original example of one of Emerson's most recognizable and distinctive fan designs.
