Circa 1912 Emerson Type 16648 16" "Lever" Oscillating Desk Fan.  Another stunning example from the Terry Fisher Collection.  Terry was a very sophisticated collector and all the examples in his collection were the best examples he could find and this 16648 is no exception to that rule.  This was Emerson's last model to utilize the highly desirable lever oscillator mechanism which they first offered in 1909.  This excellent original example features large brass blades and guard which have been cleaned and polished at some point and have started developing a fresh new patina.  The head wire and power cord have been updated at some point (likely when acquired by Terry).  Operating as designed on 3 distinct speeds, this large fan moves large amounts of air.  Lever oscillators are not known for their flawlessly smooth operation due to the many wear points, but this example runs incredibly well yet displaying some areas of slight hesitation when oscillating.  Cast iron "step base" displays some paint loss, as shown in the photo.  The Emerson 16648 is ideal for a large space or a top shelf. This fan is perfect for collectors and decorators alike.
