Super Cool Circa 1900 Froment Style Toy Motor. A Froment-style motor, also known as a "current-driven motor," Was first developed in the late 19th century by French engineer Léon Foucault and later improved by French engineer Eugene Froment. The Froment-style motor uses a fixed electromagnet to create a magnetic field, and a rotating armature with a coil of wire that is free to rotate within the magnetic field. When an electric current is applied to the coil, it generates a magnetic field that interacts with the fixed magnetic field, causing the armature to rotate.
